We fade in to Matt Baily and West Newhaven, standing in-studio side by side, in front of a large PWA banner.
Matt Baily: Welcome to the PWA Chapter 2 Pre-Game show! I'm Matt Baily, alongside my colleague...
West Newhaven: YOUR colleague? No, no. What you meant to say was, your PREDECESSOR... West Newhaven.
Baily rolls his eyes.
Matt Baily: We're here in Boston, Massachusetts, eagerly awaiting the Pay-Per-View broadcast's opening, and the clock is ticking! You've got about thirty minutes left of PWA on TV before live Pay-Per-View action tomorrow evening! Speaking of predecessors, the Brunch successor, PWA, has taken off in ways that none of us would have ever even DREAMED of! Just goes to show you that we truly do put on the best wrestling in the world! Here's a word from one of THE best wrestlers in the world, by the way. Earlier today, we caught up with Chris Williams, who will take on Michael Smart in the first ever PWA World Heavyweight Championship match!
=====
The scene opens up backstage in the arena, with Mark Snider standing next to Chris Williams in Williams' locker room. Williams’ television in the corner is showing the taping of PWA TV’s first show. The 3-way dance between Williams, Lambert, and Smart is on display. Williams is still in his street clothes, as his match is still a few hours away. Wearing his light blue destroyed Martin + Osa Bootcut jeans with his white, fitted button-up shirt.
Mark Snider: I’m backstage with Chris Williams just before Chapter 2 gets underway, and I’m here hoping to get some of our fans’ questions answered. Chris, with the biggest match of your career merely hours away, is there anything you need to get off of your chest?
Chris Williams: Not really Mark…. I guess I’d just like to say something to Michael Smart. Bud, we’ve had a hell of a ride to get here, that’s for sure. Starting from GWF all the way to its disbandment, making our rounds through different promotions, only to find ourselves both back here together. I couldn’t have asked for a better ally, or even a better person, to fight against to become the first ever PWA World Heavyweight Champion. You are a good man, and I can say I’m honored to be in the ring with you. I know that between us, we can put on one of the best matches that the fans have ever seen. Cleanly fought through and through, we will bring the house down tomorrow, and I couldn’t have a better opponent when we do. Whatever happens when that bell rings, I will stand there at the end and shake your hand. That is a promise, my friend, and I only hope that you will return the favor.
Mark Snider: Speaking of promises, Chris… there is one promise you haven’t much mentioned since your entrance into the PWA. As most of the PWA roster knows, your father died just one year before you got your true start in professional wrestling back in GWF. He was a wrestler himself, serving as your trainer, mentor, and friend. As he died, you made him a promise… a promise that you would become a true World Champion. Do you believe he is watching you, now?
Chris Williams: Absolutely. I feel him watching every match that I step into the ring for. He is always with me. I hope tonight is the night that I can finally fulfill my promise to him, and become the PWA World Heavyweight Champion. I want to be a true champion, as you said. A champion that everyone in the promotion respects, whether they hate me or not. A champion that is loved by every single fan in the building. A champion… for my father. I may not have spoken of him much, but he is on my mind every single day. The guys wrestling in this company know my story, they’ve heard enough from me to know how important this championship is to me. The promise I made to my father is everything to me. It drives me to become the best man that I could ever be, not just in the ring, but out of it as well. I don’t even know what I’ll do if I win tonight’s match and fulfill my promise…. I’ll probably break down right there, to be honest.
Mark Snider: That would be completely understandable, Chris. Thank you for your time, and good luck in your match tonight. Whatever happens, I know myself, and all of the fans in attendance and at home, are very excited to watch. Thank you.
Chris Williams: Yeah, thanks Mark.
As Snider exits the room, the camera catches one last shot of Williams, as he stares up to the ceiling and makes a cross motion with his hand. As the camera fades out, we see Williams mouthing words up into the air, speaking to his father.
=====
Cut back to Baily and West.
Matt Baily: Well, understandably, Chris Williams not only wants that belt to fulfill his father's destiny, but because he wants to be the best professional wrestler in the world. It would certainly be perfect for him to win that championship tomorrow evening. Back to PWA action, the last time you saw us on television, you witnessed one of the most shocking and... dare I say, exciting... moments in wrestling history. Thunderkiss, former World Heavyweight Champion in various promotions, went wild and enticed a riot!
Cut to footage of the riot with a voice over from Mark Snider.
=====
"Infuriating Fort Lauderdale mayor, Jack Seiler... Thunderkiss did the unimaginable, when he took on the Fort Lauderdale Police Department! All hell broke loose at the War Memorial Auditorium, when Thunderkiss nearly caused a riot, and several fans were in danger of injury! Thunderkiss was arrested after the confrontation, and has since been fined and SUSPENDED without pay by PWA's head decision maker!"
Cut back to Baily and West.
Matt Baily: Well it was certainly a night to remember, and a night that those of us in the arena will never forget. It was a very real and scary moment, for everyone there, including myself!
West Newhaven: I wasn't scared!
Matt Baily: With that, we go to commercial. We'll be right back with more pre-match promo and highlight videos!
