The scene opens up in a dark room, the only light being fade sunlight coming from a window out of the view of the camera. In the middle of the room are two people. One is Michael Smart, sitting in an armchair, wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans. The other is Daniel Smart, standing next to Michael, wearing a dark grey suit and a white tie, a smug smile on his face as he stares at the camera. Michael begins speaking, leaning forward so his face can be seen better.
Michael Smart: Last week I was about to face Shane Xzavery, but at the last moment, I backed out. Some people seem to have... misinterpreted this fact as cowardice of some sort. They are wrong. I am not afraid of Shane Xzavery. Last time I faced him, I walked out with my hands raised. Why, then, did I back out? I'm more interested to know why I shouldn't have backed out. What would I have gained from beating Shane Xzavery again? Absolutely nothing. It would've been a waste of my time and energy.
People like Chris Williams talk about being a fighting champion, about facing every challenge thrown at you. What a foolish philosophy. The attitude of a fighting champion will just wear you out and tear you apart. True champions, champions who will be remembered, don't take on every challenge thrown at them. Memorable title reigns aren't formed from dozens of minor battles, they consist of a few, select, major ones. Chris Williams fought and beat Michael Bennett, and as a result, he had to spend a lot of time and energy just over a week before perhaps the biggest match in PWA to date. Chris, if you come into Chicago Style in any less than perfect shape, you only have yourself to blame.
Michael leans back a little, crossing his arms in front of his chest.
Michael Smart: Speaking of Chicago... It's about time I got a chance to wrestle in front of my home town audience. More important than that, however, is that I'll get another chance to face Chris Williams. Of course, this time there are two others in the mix. Badger... I remember when I used to respect him. These days, however? I mostly just pity him. He's been to the hospital more times in the past two months than I have in the last year. He claims to be "true hardcore", when in reality he is just a broken shell of the man he used to be. Garland, just give up. The way things are going, you'll get a permanent injury within the next few months. Please drop your career before someone has to end it for you.
Roc Anderson... It'll be an honor to have him as my partner. He has realized the right attitude to take in life. He doesn't care about others, he's only looking out for himself. That's a position I can respect. Not only that, he also isn't afraid of taking whatever it means to keep his title. Sure, he merely wants to keep it for financial reasons, but that's a minor distinction.
Daniel Smart: Also, he kinda looks like me.
Michael glances at Daniel, who just shrugs. Michael decides to ignore Daniel's comment and turns back to the camera.
Michael Smart: Garland, Williams... You pander to the crowd and have their sympathies for your supposedly tragic background. But while you may have the audience on your side, Anderson and I have far more valuable things at our disposal. Not only are the two of us talented, but the ones backing us up are also talented, unlike the low-life fans cheering for you. Chris, Badger, I hope you enjoy the cheers you'll get when you enter the arena, because you will leave the place unconscious, strapped to a stretcher.
After those words, Michael gets up, walking off-screen, followed by Daniel as the scene fades to black.
